Join us for a workshop intensive for the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Musical Theatre audition and prepare the skills required. The intensive will be on November 23rd from 9am-12pm at the Lake Worth Playhouse in the Rehearsal Hall. Students will get an opportunity to learn two dance combinations by a professional choreographer. Students will then have the chance to work on their two contrasting auditions songs (legit and contemporary) required for the audition. Students will be challenged to a redirect on one of their prepared songs.
Evaluation of the songs will be based on:
Energy and emotional investment
Focus, concentration, control
Clarity of storytelling ( sense of imagination, discovery, communicating the meaning of the words)
Specific and appropriate character choices (physical gesture, style of piece)
Honest and truthful behavior in performance
Vocal quality (pitch, intonation, rhythm, volume, diction, breath support)
Evaluation of dance combination will be based on:
Retention ( Learning movement quickly with little or no repetition of instruction) and execution (demonstrating coordination, dance technique and rhythmic accuracy of movement)
Evaluation of the redirect will be:
Willingness to take direction and ability to follow instructions
Success implementing the requested justifications or challenges
Please bring a bottle of water as their will be breaks.
Students should dress comfortably and tastefully in clothing that does not inhibit or restrict free movement. Shoes should allow for safe, grounded and comfortable movement. Clothing should completely cover the thighs, mid-section, back and chest when moving.
