INSTRUCTOR: LEANNA OLIVEIRA
Instructor Bio:
With a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre from The University of Central Florida Leanna is the Director of the audition-based Theatre Academy at Boynton Beach High School. Throughout her teaching career, Leanna has directed a number of award winning plays and competition pieces at both District and State levels. Some of her former students have gone on to study both acting and technical theatre at schools such as New World School of the Arts, Florida Atlantic University, Bloomsburg University, Palm Beach State College, and more. When she is not at school, Leanna also substitute teaches in the DeGeorge Academy at The Kravis Center.
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:
The audition process will be just like a theatre workshop. A prepared monologue will not be necessary. Students will be asked to demonstrate their abilities through the workshop activities during the audition. Students participating in our BAK audition workshops will engage in acting exercises with other students to create believable scenes and characters. Students will also participate in cold readings. Students will be given a few lines from a play and will be asked to read making character choices. They will learn valuable tips and on how to give a successful cold reading and opportunities to work with scene partners just like at the BAK theatre audition.
